FAQ – CIMA GR & Apex GR
I. General Questions
Q: Do your frames come with a warranty?
A: Yes. All our frames come with a limited lifetime warranty. Please refer to our Warranty Policy for full details on terms and conditions.
Q: Can I purchase the frameset from my location?
A: We proudly offer worldwide shipping. While our website supports most regions, in some cases direct checkout may not be available due to local restrictions.
If you encounter any issues, please feel free to reach out to our customer service team via online chat or email at service@evolvebicycles.com. We’ll be happy to assist you personally and ensure a smooth and seamless purchasing experience.
Q: Can I buy the evolve frameset without the KREUZA handlebar?
A: Yes, you can. However, please note that the standard headset cover of the evolve frameset is designed specifically for the KREUZA handlebar. If you plan to use a different handlebar, you will need a headset adapter for proper fit and compatibility.
We recommend checking with your handlebar supplier to confirm they can provide an adapter that fits the evolve frameset.
Q: How do I choose the right frame size?
A: Choosing the right frame depends on your height, inseam length, and arm reach. We recommend referring to our size chart or visiting an evolve authorized dealer for a test ride.
Q: I’m XXX cm tall. What size frame should I get?
A: Height alone isn’t enough for an accurate recommendation. Please consult our size chart or contact our online support team for personalized advice.
Q: What type of frame geometry do you offer?
A: Our CIMA frames feature race-oriented geometry—longer top tubes and steeper head angles for enhanced handling and speed.
Q: What is seatpost offset? How do I choose the right offset for me?
A: Seatpost offset (also known as setback) refers to the horizontal distance between the center of the seatpost shaft and the center of the saddle clamp. In simpler terms, it determines how far your saddle sits behind or in line with the seatpost itself.
This design plays an important role in adjusting your riding position and comfort:
Adjusts saddle position:
A seatpost with positive offset (setback) moves the saddle further back, while one with zero or negative offset positions it closer to the handlebars.
Impacts posture and performance:
Setback seatpost (positive offset):
Ideal for riders with longer legs or torsos, as it allows for a more stretched-out position and can reduce pressure on the lower back.
Zero or forward-offset seatpost (negative offset):
Brings the saddle closer to the handlebars, which helps improve power transfer and efficiency during climbs or more aggressive riding.

Q: How do I choose the right seatpost length?
A: After selecting the frame size, choose either the 310mm or 380mm seatpost length based on your saddle top – BB center.
| CIMA Saddle Top – BB Center | ||||
| Frame Size | 310mm Seatpost | 380mm Seatpost | ||
| Maximum Insertion (mm) Saddle Top – BB Center |
Minimum insertion (mm) Saddle Top – BB Center |
Maximum Insertion (mm) Saddle Top – BB Center |

| XS | 636 | 709 | / | / |
| S | 636 | 731 | / | / |
| M | 650 | 746 | 720 | 816 |
| ML | 650 | 765 | 720 | 835 |
| L | 652 | 783 | 722 | 853 |
| XL | / | / | 722 | 874 |
For example:
If you choose size M:
For saddle top – BB center between 650–720mm, we recommend the 310mm seatpost.
For saddle top – BB center between 746–816mm, we recommend the 380mm seatpost.
For saddle top – BB center between 720–746mm, either 310mm or 380mm seatpost is suitable.
Q: When should I purchase a UDH Direct Mount Derailleur Hanger?
A: All of our frames come standard with a SRAM UDH derailleur hanger, which is fully compatible with both Shimano and SRAM electronic shifting systems.
If you are using a Shimano Di2 groupset and want to reduce weight, you may consider adding the UDH Direct Mount Derailleur Hanger to your frameset order. This direct-mount option removes the additional joint required by the standard Shimano hanger, resulting in a 13.36g weight savings compared to the default SRAM UDH hanger.
Q: How much do your frames weigh?
A: Frame weight varies by size, model, and paint finish. Please refer to the product detail page for exact specifications.
Q: How stiff are your frames?
A: Our frames are built with premium carbon fiber and advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure high stiffness, reduced power loss, and greater pedaling efficiency.
Q: What bottom bracket does the evolve frame use?
A: The evolve frames use a 68mm BSA threaded bottom bracket.
Q: What is the maximum weight limit for the evolve frames?
A: 109 kg.
Q: Are there any restrictions on saddle types for evolve frames?
A: No. All standard saddles are compatible.
Q: Can I repaint my frame or fork?
A: We do not recommend repainting. It will void the warranty, as disassembly or repainting may compromise the carbon structure.
1. CIMA GR Frameset
Q: What is the maximum tire clearance of the CIMA GR?
A:
1x drivetrain: supports up to 50C tires, with 6 mm clearance on each side.
2x drivetrain: supports up to 45C tires, also with 6 mm clearance on each side.
Q: What is the maximum chainring size supported by the CIMA GR?
A:
1x drivetrain: maximum chainring size is 50T.
2x drivetrain: compatibility varies by groupset:
Shimano GRX: 48/31T
Shimano 12-speed road: 50/34T
SRAM Road: 48/35T
Q: Is the CIMA GR compatible with mechanical shifting systems?
A:
2x setups: mechanical shifting is not supported.
1x setups: mechanical shifting is fully compatible.
Electronic shifting systems are fully compatible with both 1x and 2x configurations.
Q: Are the components on the CIMA GR the same as those on the CIMA road frameset?
A: Most components are shared between the two platforms, with a few key differences.
The CIMA comes standard with CeramicSpeed (CS) headset bearings, while the CIMA GR is equipped with standard steel bearings.
The CIMA GR also features an additional protective decal on the downtube to better resist cosmetic damage from gravel riding.
All other standard components are interchangeable between the two models.
Q: Is the seatpost different between the CIMA GR and the CIMA?
A: No. The seatposts are fully interchangeable. Both models support the same six seatpost specifications, allowing riders to freely swap between configurations.
2. Apex GR Handlebars
Q: Can the Apex GR handlebar be purchased separately?
A: Yes. The Apex GR shares the same compatibility standard as the regular Apex handlebar. However, frames with external cable routing are not compatible, as the Apex GR is designed exclusively for fully integrated internal cable routing systems.
Q: How can I confirm whether my third-party aero bars are compatible with the Apex GR handlebars?
A: Please verify the following three points:
- Whetherthe mounting base of your aero bars uses a center-mounted fixing position;
- Whether the mounting hole spacing on the aero bar mounting base is 35 mm;
- Whether the mounting base uses standard M5 mounting bolts.
If all three requirements are met, the aero bars (including the mounting base) should be compatible with the Apex GR handlebars.
Q: If the mounting base of my aero bars is not compatible with the Apex GR handlebars, can I purchase a compatible mounting base from you?
A: Yes. We will offer a dedicated mounting base as an optional accessory for the Apex GR handlebars soon. If your current aero bar mounting base is not compatible, you can purchase the compatible mounting base separately from us.
Q: If I purchase the Apex GR handlebars together with the compatible mounting base from you, can I use them with my third-party aero bars?
A: Yes, provided that your aero bars use an integrated-style mounting system that attaches via a mounting base rather than a traditional clamp-on system.
The following aero bar models have been verified to be compatible with the Apex GR handlebars when used with the compatible mounting base:
- VISION Metron TFE EVO
- Profile Design ASC Pro Extensions
However, the traditional clamp-on type aero bars are not compatible with our mounting base.
